Integration of Multimedia Communication into Tele-medicine and Tele-consultation

Telemedicine and teleconsultation are key areas that address the problem of shortage of medical professionals and experts in remote locations by leveraging remote expertise for local problems. Here in this paper we address a real time and nonreal time communication system simulataneously between health care professionals for providing expertise and informal/formal recommendations. Such computer mediated systems can bridge the gap between doctors in rural regions and the medical expertise worldwide. It uses social networks as a basic framework of design upon which existing technologies such as video conferencing, teleconferencing, video broadcast can be integrated easily to enhance the user interactivity with the system.
